A while ago I spotted a statement lightshade in IkeafamilyLive on Pinterest.

I’ve always loved gigantic round paper light shades but ripped ours when we moved. This is a great alternative, and perhaps even better. So I set about making my own.

I thought I could just hang the shades off each other around the light cable but this didn’t work so I made a a quick and easy ‘frame’ with some jewellery wire I have. Making sure the middle circumference was wide enough, but not too big for the light bulb, I twisted the wire at three points and hung each light shade off these.

My youngest wee Sol turned two! We had a very impromptu last minute party for him with family and close friends. It was so last minute I literally had to make things out of nothing. This is what I came up with for his friends party bags.

Its pretty surprising what you can do with some card and a stapler!

Homemade Bunny Lacing Card, and napkin bunny.

The contents of the ‘bag’ also included a chocolate bunny lollipop and helium filled balloon, unsurprisingly these didn’t make it into the photo shoot! oh and a slice of colour failed* rainbow cake of course!

*colour failed because it turned out I didn’t use enough food colouring!

Yes, I do realise the date!! This is a few weeks overdue, to say the least.

I was heavily inspired by Youaremyfave‘s Brekkie Box post of an Easter Breakfast Tray to offer parents to enjoy while their children were on an Egg Hunt.

So I made an Easter tray for relatives we were seeing on the day.

To make the nests I blew up a balloon to the desired size, smothered it with vaseline and then wrapped white wool drenched in one part pva glue and one part water mix around it, hung it up to dry, making sure to leave newspaper on the floor below as it dripped like crazy. Left overnight the wool dried and I popped the balloon, leaving the wool intact in the globed shape. after picking out the balloon I popped the eggs inside. Et Voila!

I think they make nice mobiles too, particularly for a nursery or perhaps as Christmas decorations.

This is the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes this morning! I love Sundays. It’s usually my ‘turn’ for an extra hour or two of kip. Our two year old has turned into a child who is very wakeful during the night and this chance for an extra hour of sleep is my weeks highlight. I know how ‘sad’ that sounds but when you have energetic children like mine who demand a lot of entertaining during the day and then you get very little sleep at night, well Sunday mornigs quickly became my highlight!

Having said that I haven’t exactly ever been an early bird and love nothing more than hibernating under the duvets.

My horse shoes are from my girlie childhood days of working at the Hydro stables in Peebles, fond, love filled memories.

The best bit about waking up later on a Sunday is the soft light that filters through, a reminder that spring is here. I have doubled up our curtains with thicker, darker ones behind a thin natural linen in front which softens the light beautifully in the middle and at the edges, framing the windows even when they are drawn.

 Image from Lendrick Lodge

On the 28th April I will be WALKING on FIRE :O AAAAaaarrrgh :D I just cant believe its going to be happening.

I have the brilliant excuse of doing this all in the name of a good cause of raising money for a Play, Pirates and Mermaids by Poorboy. ‘The current Arts funding in Scotland means that Poorboy cant apply to take this fantastic wee show to the Edinburgh Fringe’, unless of course I help, with 39 others to raise the cash.

‘Poorboy have already got the venue sorted for The Fringe – the Scottish Storytelling Centre and have put in a ton of work, money, passion, skills and commitment to get the play this far. The show is an international story set in Scotland and New York and its had great responses from preview audiences in both countries.’

To sponsor me for the ‘Show Must Go On : FIREWALK’ please get in touch and I shall put your name and donation on my sheet, until the Just Giving webpage is set up (had some technical issues!)

THANK YOU
